A Legacy of Fine Shoemaking
The journey of Gaziano & Girling began with Tony Gaziano, who started his career at Cheaney Shoes, a heritage brand established in 1886. Although he trained as an architect, his eye for design naturally translated into shoemaking. Over the years, he developed innovative designs for brands like Jeffrey West and Paul Smith before moving to Edward Green, where he met Dean Girling.
Dean was born into shoemaking. His father owned a shoe shop in Norwich, and after completing the Cordwainers London shoemaking course, he worked with some of the most prestigious bespoke shoe brands in London, including Lobb’s.
Tony and Dean quickly bonded over their shared belief that traditional English shoemaking had become too conservative. Tony wanted to modernise English shoe designs, while Dean dreamed of creating his own brand. By combining Tony’s cutting-edge designs with Dean’s unparalleled craftsmanship, Gaziano & Girling was born.
