We make bespoke and made to measure suits, shirts and coats for men and women. Bespoke starts from £2,500 and takes six to eight weeks. Fittings are by appointment.

Lewis Calcutt Started Cutting in Manchester at Sixteen
Lewis Calcutt runs the studio here, and he began his career in Manchester at sixteen. He now looks after clients across Manchester, Cheshire, London and Zurich, which means the person advising you has seen how the same cloth behaves on a trading floor in the City and at a wedding in Hale.

Most bespoke suits take six to eight weeks from your first consultation to collection. Five stages get you there.
- 01 ConsultationYou tell us where you will wear it, and we look at cloth together and agree a budget. This one is free and there is no hard sell.
- 02 Measurements and patternYour measurements and posture are recorded, and a pattern is drafted for you alone.
- 03 Baste fittingYou try the suit while it is still loosely stitched, so the fit can be corrected before it is fully built.
- 04 Further fittingsMost clients need two to three fittings in total. Each one refines the balance and the detail.
- 05 Final fitting and collectionYou try the finished suit, we check it sits right, and it goes home with you.

Suits, Shirts and Womenswear, Cut to Your Shape
Suits, jackets, trousers, coats, eveningwear and shirts, at two levels. Bespoke means a pattern drafted for you and nobody else. Made to measure means an existing pattern adjusted to your measurements, which costs less and suits a first commission.

Around £700 to £900 buys made to measure across most of Manchester, where an existing pattern is adjusted to you. Around £2,500 is where genuine bespoke starts, meaning a pattern drafted for you alone and a full canvas built into the chest. Prices in between are often the first thing sold under the second name, and in Manchester you will see garments called bespoke from around £800. Ask which you are being offered before you ask what it costs.

The studio is at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa in Knutsford, straight off the M56 with the M6 close by and parking directly outside. Knutsford station is a short ride from Manchester Piccadilly.
We are honest about this: we are not a tailor city of Manchester address, and that is deliberate. You get a private room, an unhurried appointment and somewhere to leave the car, which is more than most city centre fitting rooms manage on a Saturday.

How do you choose between tailors in Manchester?

Do you make shirts as well as suits?

What happens if I gain or lose weight?
Our five year guarantee covers reasonable wear and tear, and that includes weight change. Most people assume a suit that no longer fits is finished. It usually is not.
Is parking available?
Yes, directly at the studio, which is one of the reasons clients drive out from the city rather than parking in it.
Bespoke Does Not Have to Mean London
There is a belief in the north that genuine bespoke means a train to London, a long wait and a five-figure bill. Two of those three are wrong.
