The process
You come in for a consultation. We talk about what you need and what you have in mind. Then we look at cloths, talk styles, and take your measurements. From there, we adjust a base pattern to your body and send it for cutting. You come back to check the fit, and we make any tweaks before final delivery. The whole thing takes about 3 to 4 weeks. That is roughly half the time of a full bespoke suit.
What you choose
You are not limited to what is on the rail. You choose the cloth from our full range. You choose the lining, the buttons, the lapel style, the pocket type, the trouser finish, and the details.
How many fittings
One is standard for made-to-measure. In most cases, that is enough. If something needs more work, we will bring you back. We do not let a suit leave unless the fit is right.

What is the same
Both use cloths from the same mills. Both let you choose every detail. Both are cut to your measurements. Both are fitted in person by your tailor. The quality of the cloth and the finish is the same across both services. You are not getting a lesser product with made-to-measure. You are getting a different process.
What is different
In bespoke, we draw a unique pattern for your body from scratch. This gives the best possible fit, especially for men with unusual proportions, strong posture features, or very specific requirements. The pattern is yours and stays on file.
In made-to-measure, we start with a proven base pattern and adjust it to your measurements. This is faster and costs less, and for most body types it gives a fit that is very close to bespoke.
How to decide
If you have a standard build and want a well-fitted suit at a good price with a faster turnaround, made-to-measure is a smart choice. If you have a harder-to-fit body, want the absolute best fit, or care deeply about construction details, bespoke is the way to go. Your tailor will be honest about which makes sense for you. Suits

Jackets and blazers
A standalone jacket or blazer is one of the most popular made-to-measure orders. It works as the anchor piece for separates, smart casual, and weekend wear.
Trousers
Made-to-measure trousers on their own are a great starting point if you have never had anything tailored. You choose the cloth, the rise, the leg shape, and the waistband style. Once you feel the difference, you will want the jacket to match.
Waistcoats
A waistcoat as a standalone piece or as part of a three-piece suit.
Cloth and details
Same mills, same range, same choices. The cloth does not change between bespoke and made-to-measure.

We source from Holland and Sherry, Dormeuil, Scabal, and others. Worsted wools for business. Flannels for autumn and winter. Lighter wools, linens and blends for summer. Your tailor will bring samples and help you pick.
Details
You choose the lapel style and width, the button type, the lining, the pocket style, the cuff buttons, and the trouser finish. You can add a monogram, a contrast buttonhole, or a personal touch to the lining.

First-timers, busy professionals, men who want a better fit without the full bespoke timeline or price.
First-timers
If you have never had anything tailored before, made-to-measure is a good place to start. It gives you a feel for what a properly fitted suit is like. Many of our clients start with made-to-measure and move to bespoke later once they know what they want.
Busy professionals
If you need a suit sooner than bespoke allows, made-to-measure gets you there. One fitting instead of two or three.
Budget-conscious clients
Made-to-measure costs less than bespoke because the pattern work is simpler. If you want a well-fitted suit in a good cloth but your budget does not stretch to full bespoke right now, this is the option. Your tailor will talk through pricing at the consultation. No pressure. No judgement.
Men who need multiples
If you need several suits at once, say for a new job or a wardrobe refresh, made-to-measure lets you build a rotation faster and at a lower cost per suit. You can always add a bespoke piece later for the occasions that matter most.

New to made-to-measure?
The questions we are asked most by men ordering their first made-to-measure suit.
What is the difference between made-to-measure and having an off-the-peg suit altered?
The order of events is the difference. An altered suit is a finished garment, made to a standard size, then cut into afterwards to bring it closer to you. A made-to-measure suit is cut to your measurements before it is made. That means the shoulders, the chest balance and the length are right from the start rather than being worked around. Alterations can shorten a sleeve or take in a waist, but they cannot change the way a jacket sits on your shoulders.
Is made-to-measure the same as custom or tailor-made?
Not necessarily. Custom and tailor-made are loose terms with no fixed meaning, and they get used to describe everything from a genuinely cut garment to a stock suit with your initials on it. Made-to-measure has a specific meaning: an existing pattern adjusted to your measurements. Bespoke has a specific meaning too: a pattern drawn from scratch for you. If you are weighing up quotes, the useful question is which of those two you are actually being offered.
What is a base pattern?
A base pattern is the template a tailor starts from, a set of proportions for a given size and cut. For a made-to-measure order your tailor adjusts that template using your measurements, your posture and how you want the garment to sit. It is not a size pulled off a rail. It is the reference point the cutting is worked out from, and the adjustments are what make the finished suit yours.
Can a made-to-measure suit be altered later?
Yes, within limits. Tailored garments are made with seam allowance, so a waist, a sleeve or a trouser leg can usually be let out or taken in if your size changes. Some things are much harder: shoulders and overall jacket length are far more difficult to alter than a waist, which is why they are worth getting right at the fitting. We run an alterations service and can tell you what is realistic for a particular garment.
What should I actually be looking at during my fitting?
Start at the shoulders, because they are the hardest thing to change later. The seam should finish where your shoulder finishes, with no bulge or dent below it. Then check the collar sits flat against your shirt with no gap, the chest is clean with no pulling around the fastened button, a little shirt cuff shows below the sleeve, and the trousers break on the shoe the way you want them to. If anything feels wrong, say so. That is exactly what the fitting is for.
How far ahead should I order for a wedding or an event?
Earlier than you think you need to. A made-to-measure order has a fitting in the middle of it, and that fitting has to suit your diary as well as ours. Leaving a clear run before the date means an adjustment at the fitting stage is a small thing rather than a problem. How much does a made-to-measure suit cost?
It depends on the garment and the cloth, so there is no single figure. The same suit in a hard-wearing everyday worsted and in a fine, rarer cloth are two different orders. Your tailor will go through numbers with you at the consultation, before anything is committed to. Our suit packages set out the options.
