This year’s Autumn/Winter Looks

Want to look your best this winter? Then read on to discover our top tips for men’s wear style this autumn/winter season. It’s all about the fabric and the cut, so it’s time to get your wardrobe in order.

Thirties cut

Take style inspiration from Edward VIII and sport a suit with a loose thirties cut and wide legged trousers. It’s a look that found its place in a number of catwalk collections for the upcoming winter season, and given it’s stylish, smart and comfortable, why would you choose anything else?

Chequered fabrics

Perfect for a suit in this vintage cut are the chequered fabrics that were seen all over the catwalk from the oversized and eccentric to more subtle tweed or glen plaid choices. In fact, the latter is sometimes called a ‘Prince of Wales’ suit after it erstwhile wearer, so choose glen plaid for a relaxed, yet elegant style.

Windowpane suit

When it comes to checks, there was one particularly notable feature of the latest men’s wear collections – the windowpane suit. So cut a dash this autumn in this distinctive fabric and stand out from the crowd.

Bold fabric choices

In fact, bold fabric choices were in evidence all over the catwalk, from checks incorporating contrasting colours to striking single colour choices. Warm hues were particularly in evidence with elements of rich gold, burnt amber and red incorporated into many collections, alongside the more classic greens, browns, blues and camel shades.

Discover your inner rockabilly

Another notable trend on the catwalk was the rockabilly look – again it’s a style which lends itself to quality suit fabrics, if worn in a slightly more anarchic style and teamed with jeans at times.

Three quarter length coat

A notable feature of the autumn/winter wardrobe is the three quarter length coat in a heavy woollen fabric. Chooseclassic camel, grey or a more striking colour choice such as kingfisher blue. Some examples seen in the latest men’s wear collection sported collars, cuffs and buttons in contrasting colours which would work well with the rockabilly trend.

Outsize woollens

Team your winter wardrobe with oversized woollen jumpers, which feature in numerous fashion collections this upcomingautumn/winter season, layer them up for a casual, unkempt style.

Quality tells

One message which came through loud and clear on the catwalks is that natural, good quality fabrics never go out of fashion, as they featured in almost every men’s wear collection.

A statement piece

Also, it’s better to invest in a single statement piece, a suit; a well-cut jacket or overcoat and look after it, than numerous mediocre pieces. Clothes of quality will wear well and look good for a long time to come, so you can sport a classic, stylish look wherever you go. Buy a Harris Tweed suit, for example, take care of it, and it will last you for years.

Accessories

Team you winter wardrobe with a few modish accessories from a hand cut tie to a wide winter scarf, cufflinks, lapel pins, tie clips, colourful socks or bespoke leather goods.

So there you have any overview of men’s wear fashion this upcoming autumn winter season, so you can be cutting a dash wherever you go. It might be colder, but it’s certainly no reason for you to be any less of the style icon you are.
