Our Pick Of Events To Get Dressed Up For This Spring

The days are getting warmer and lighter, people are starting to smile (occasionally!) and we are beginning to inch away from the cosy home confines and venture into the great outdoors. Spring is finally around the corner and cities are coming to life with events and activities from February through to June 2019.

Here’s our pick for our clients to prepare for and attend…

THE BOAT RACE

Feast your eyes on some ‘oarsome’ action as academic titans Oxford and Cambridge battle it out once again in this quintessentially British rowing race on the Thames. The annual clash, which has been running for 189 years, pulls in riverside crowds of 300,000. The rip-rowing action gets into full swing at 4.35pm when the starting gun marks the beginning of the Women’s Boat Race, with the Men’s Boat Race taking place an hour later. If, like the majority of people lining the riverbanks, you’re really there for the all-day booze fest, get there early to bag a good spot at a pub with a riverside. RHS CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW

The Chelsea Flower Show has been held in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea, London every year since 1913, apart from gaps during the two World Wars. Once Britain’s largest flower show (it has now been overtaken by RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Show), it is still the most prestigious.

ROYAL ASCOT

Royal Ascot is Britain’s most valuable race meeting, attracting many of the world’s finest racehorses to compete for millions of pounds in prize money (£7.3m in 2018). Each year the meeting is broadcast to audiences around the globe, yet to experience it in person is something altogether more special.

HENLEY REGATTA

Henley Royal Regatta (or Henley Regatta, its original name pre-dating Royal patronage) is a rowing event held annually on the River Thames by the town of Henley-on-Thames, England. It was established on 26 March 1839. It differs from the three other regattas rowed over approximately the same course, Henley Women’s Regatta, Henley Masters Regatta and Henley Town and Visitors’ Regatta, each of which is an entirely separate event.

THE BRIT AWARDS

The 2019 Brit Awards will be held on 20 February 2019 at The O2 Arena in London. It will be the 39th edition of the British Phonographic Industry’s annual pop music awards. On 26 November 2018, Jack Whitehall was announced as the host for the second year running. Sir David Adjaye was announced as the official designer of the BRIT statuette. In December 2018, it was announced that BBC Radio 1, Live Lounge and Top of the Pops host Clara Amfo hosted the BRITs Are Coming Nominations Launch Show on 12 January 2019.
