Five ways to style a denim shirt

Denim shirts are not the normal ‘go to’ for many men but we think that you should have at least one in your wardrobe because when styled well it really does elevate your look.

Layered

Under a piece of knitwear and blazer is a great example of a well layered denim shirt.

A glimpse of a collar means casual, within a curated, elegant and subdued look.

Mix this with a blazer or with a sweater-shirt combo and with a pair of chinos or jeans and it feels like a great weekend outfit for drinks and exploring the city.

Casual

The denim shirt is sometimes known as ‘the convertible shirt’ because it can make something very simple look good.

Choose a pair of chinos to go with the denim shirt if you’re looking for a really relaxed and casual look.

If you are brave enough you could try double denim but make sure you pair them well.

Summer look

With warmer weather it is best to go for a thinner, more delicate linen like denim.  This will give the effect and grain that we know and love with this fabric but not its workwear thickness.

This style is much better for spring summer and the warmer weather (a great piece to take on holiday).

Dressed down with a suit

Dress down a more formal garment with a denim shirt.

Denim gives a casual vibe whenever worn.

The suit is a great example of this.  A well-tailored double-breasted suit is at the top end of smart sophisticated outfits, but pair it with a light-weight denim shirt and it instantly becomes something much more casual (great look for a smart casual event such as a summer wedding).

Everyday

A denim shirt is a great piece that you are just able to throw on any day of the week and look well put together.  If you don’t have one in your wardrobe already, we recommend that you invest in one.
